DAY 4 : Lao Cai to Sa Pa
You’ll arrive at Lao Cai station at (approx.) 5.30 – 6.00 AM & board a local bus for your (approx.) 1 hour trip up to Sa Pa. Our guests usually enjoy an early check in & a late check out too, but in both cases this is absolutely depending on availability. We ask for your understanding with this. You’ll have brekkie whilst soaking up the best views in Sa Pa. In the afternoon (approx. 1.00 PM), one of our H’mong friends will take you for a walk to Cat Cat village. It’s a steep walk back up the hill so you may want to take a m/cycle taxi back up for approx $1 – $2 USD extra. The evening’s free & our staff can fill you in on what to do and where to eat. (O/night in Sa Pa)
DAY 5 : Sa Pa to Ha Noi ( Breakfast , Lunch)
After a good brekkie & at approx 9.00 AM, you’re off for a spectacular day (approx 4 - 6 Hrs) walking in the country side although it depends on you & how fast you walk & how many stops you have along the way. You’ll be with your guide & get to meet & visit the homes of some Black H’mong, Giay & maybe some Red Dao. You’ll have lunch in a house in the village of Lao Chai.
You’ll have to get back up to Sa Pa to meet your transportation back to Lao Cai. If you don’t want to walk back to Sa Pa, you can ask your guide to organise a m/cycle taxi or car for you. It’s $2 - 3 USD (approx) for the m/cycle or $5 - 6 USD (approx P/Pers) for a car.
You’ll need to settle any extras or personal expenses at the hotel before you leave at approx 5.00 PM to go back down to Lao Cai. The drivers always try to get people to Lao Cai during daylight hours for safety reasons. You’ll have time in Lao Cai to have dinner before boarding your train. You’ll arrive in Ha Noi at (approx.) 5.00 AM & your tour with us finishes at the train station. (O/night on the train)
DAY 6 : HA NOI – SAI GON ( Lunch )
Take a morning flight to Sai Gon
Pick up at the airport , and head to Cu Chi. Along the way we'll keep you entertained with tales about the area's turbulent history, about the lives and grinds of its people. Just 30 minutes further from the typically-visited tunnels of Ben Dinh, we will arrive in Ben Duoc, the one which other companies tend to avoid due to the extra distance of about 20km. Here, you'll learn what life was truly like in these enemy named "black echo" mazes, as we guide you through the historic grounds - and into the ground, if you dare! Model-home and display area shows of daily lives and survival means, and an ornate memorial temple commemorating those who dies make this site particularly enlightening. Relax by the riverside and enjoy a scenic lunch of the kind eaten in the area for centuries. After lunch, we'll make our way back to Saigon on a different route to which we came, arriving at your hotel . Overnight in hotel
DAY 7 : SAIGON – BENTRE – CANTHO ( Small group tour )(Breakfast , Lunch )
Pick up at your hotel in Saigon then take about two hours drive to Ben Tre. On arrival at Hung Vuong pier - the boat will cruise along the Ham Luong river (a branch of the Mekong) and stop off at various local workplaces to give you a picture of how the local economy works, including a brick-kiln, where bricks are still painstakingly made by hand; a coconut processing workshop, where you can sample fresh coconut and see how every single part of this versatile nut is turned into food and other products; and a mat weaving house, where straw mats are woven using a hand loom – you can even have a go at weaving yourself!
You will then hop onto a bicycle for a 15 km fun ride through the quiet and beauty country lane with some difference kinds of gardens such as coconuts; cassaba melon; cucumber; colocynth along the roadside to Mr Khanh’s ancient house where you can contemplate a antiques pottery collection. Then get back on your bike and cycle to visite rice field. Stop at riverside restaurant for a delicious and filling lunch, featuring such local specialties as elephant-ear fish and river shrimp, washed down with some cold drinks or beers. After lunch, it’s time to board on a rowing boat for a relaxing trip along narrow canals. Back to Hung Vuong Pier, take a way to Ham Luong, Co Chien ferry for Tra Vinh, Can Tho. Check in hotel
DAY 8 : CAI RANG & PHONG DIEN FLOATING MARKETS – SAIGON (Breakfast)
05:30am: hop on our car and drive to Phong Dien district (15km) and board on an arrow-boat and cruise to Phong Dien floating market. It is just stunning! What you need to do here is just sit back and watch the whole world of trading, mainly fruits and vegetables, going on from boats to boats as it has been going on for hundreds of years. Phong Dien is more of a rural and retailed floating market with many small and rowing boats. As our boat edges through the market, you will be surely driven back to the yester-centuries by the sound of bargaining, rowing, motoring mixed with the sound from the coffee boat, meat boat, grocery boat, ice boats…. Saying goodbye to Phong Dien floating market, our boat will speed up through many channels of the Mekong River stretching along rural villages and arrive in Cai Rang floating market (12km toward Can Tho)- it is much bigger and is more of wholesaled market with many more big and motored boats. And this will complete a special picture of around a million floating traders in this region who have been happily living a floating life and earn their living on some 50,000km of waterways in the Mekong Delta. Get back to your hotel for a late breakfast, check out and go to Binh Thuy ancient House before head off for Saigon (170km) - Service ends at your hotel in Saigon at around 3:00pm
